Second Chance JBL Tune 760 NC Black

I am quite satisfied with the JBL Tune 760NC headphones, but I do have a few points of criticism. It's because my expectations were set too high by what I've read about ANC (Active Noise Cancelling). I want to share my experiences so that others have the right expectations.

I had the impression that with ANC you no longer hear outside noise. That turns out not to be true. As soon as you put on the headphones, half of the outside noise is muted, as with all over-ear headphones. A test with a vacuum cleaner shows that once the ANC kicks in, half of the remaining noise is eliminated. You will therefore continue to hear roughly a quarter of the outside noise. Enough to have a conversation provided you turn the music down. Someone reported that ANC doesn't work until you turn on the music. That's not true: ANC works immediately. ANC appears to dampen frequencies in the midrange in particular. Higher frequencies are simply passed through. But they are (partially) mechanically damped by the ear cups.

The headphones are good, I would have liked slightly larger earcups to let them fall well over the ear, but with a bit of arranging it is possible. The material feels nice, but gets a little sweaty after a while. I don't want it on my head for more than an hour. For me that is enough.

The sound is pleasant. Some testers point out that JBL always gives a heavy bass, but that does not appear to be so emphatic that it is disturbing. More troubling is that the performance at high tones is really bad. I miss nice percussion sounds in the music. And that turns out to be true. With the app "Frequency generator" I was able to test that it stops above 3,500 Hz. My old in-ear set (Sony WI-C200) is more than twice as high! And then JBL claims that the drivers can handle 20-20,000 Hz. Nonsense! Does no one check the specs?

In summary: although these headphones are a bit disappointing to me, given other reviews I think that the device simply offers what you can expect in this price range.

The JBL Tune 760NC are pleasant mid-range headphones that you can wear all day long. Your ears won't bother you because you have on-ear or in-ear plugs. The shells fit well over your ears, so you won't be bothered by that. You can also use it all day long because of the great battery life! After 1x charging, you can use these headphones intensively for a whole week before you have to charge them again. You will have to look for another USB-C cable to charge the headphones yourself, because the supplied cable is only about 10 cm long.
The noise canceling of surrounding sound is very good, you hardly hear anything from other sounds when you have it on. However, others besides you can probably listen in to your music, because the music outside is / is not muted as well as I expected. Adere can therefore listen very well with your music. That can sometimes be uncomfortable.
The controls work fine and you can easily switch from PC to mobile or vice versa. Sometimes the connection does not go well 1x, but switching the headphones on / off works wonders.
