For those interested)
Please find my experiences below:
Polar OH1 in use for one full week.
As a heart patient I have been using Polar M400 in combination with chest strap H7, later H10, for a long time.
I do heart monitoring 24/7/365. However, I always suffered from serious skin irritations, even with special EKG gel. With the recent purchase of OH1, to replace H10, this inconvenience has now completely disappeared.
Hopefully it stays that way.
Other findings are:
- Comfort/use:
- OH1 very easy to link with smartphone, web, polarbeat, M400
- OH1 has an autonomy of approx. 14-15 hours! charging time approx. 1 hour. I only need to charge 1x for 24-hour measurement. While charging I use my old H10 .
- Accuracy:
- OH1 has almost the same HR accuracy as H10, I ran several tests here simultaneously, OH1 vs H10, both at night and during the day and workouts, and all data are statistically within the same range of min-max data. The course within that spread is very similar for both sensors.
Since the H10 has previously been tested/compared in a professional cardio-lab environment and recorded a practically complete simultaneous course with that "official" cardio measurement, I can deduce that the OH1 sensor certainly has the same accuracy.
Conclusion: given the short period of use / my experiences, the OH1 is definitely a recommended and valid alternative to H10.

I would recommend it

  • I think the heart rate is measured fairly accurately
  • very easy on the arm. I have very thin arms and adapt well.
  • easy app from polar.
  • none found yet.

Works well but use minimalistic.

  • Measure accurately, few glitches
  • Not palpable around arm
  • enough battery
  • Bluetooth, so with iPhone 8 not possible for tennis

Fits very comfortably around the arm. Measure accurately. The sensor can only be used with the polar beat app. Through this app, the activity can be viewed in Strava or Fitnesspal, but cannot be used separately in Strava. In addition, the meter can only measure activities and not, for example, resting heart rate in your sleep (or quality of sleep through heart rate).
