How do you descale the De'Longhi Magnifica?

- Step 1. Turn on the machine and fill the water tank with the descaler up to 'A' and with water up to 'B'. Start the descaling process.

You only have to descale your De'Longhi every 2 to 3 months, as long as you replace the water filter in time. That's because the water filter prevents a large part of the limescale. Don't have a water filter? Keep in mind that you'll have to descale your machine a lot more often. How often depends on the hardness of your tap water and how many cups of coffee you make each day. It's best to use De'Longhi EcoDecalk descaler, because this descaler is specially made for the parts of your machine.
Step 1: start the descaling
- Turn on the machine.
- Empty the drip tray and coffee grounds container.
- Empty the water tank and remove the water filter.
- Pour the descaler into the water tank up to the 'A' level and add water up to the 'B' level.
- Place the water tank back into the machine.
- Put a container under the steam wand and the coffee outlet.
- Press the descaler button for 5 seconds.
- The steam light blinks. Turn the knob to the 'I' position.
- The machine now starts descaling. This takes about 25 minutes.
Step 2: rinse the machine

Turn the steam button to the 'O' position.

Fill the water tank with tap water up to 'MAX'
- After 25 minutes, the water tank is empty.
- Turn the steam knob back to the 'O' position.
- Empty the container that you put under the coffee machine and place it back.
- Remove and empty the water tank. Rinse it with tap water.
- Fill the water tank with tap water up to 'MAX' and put it back into the machine.
- Turn the steam knob to the 'I' mode, so it starts rinsing.
- When the water tank is completely empty, turn the steam knob back to the 'O' position.
- Fill the water tank and your machine is ready for use.
