How do you choose the right Canon PIXMA printer?
Are you looking for a PIXMA printer, but aren't you sure which printer series is suitable for you? We'll explain the differences between the Canon PIXMA printers. For example, are you looking for a photo printer or do you only want to print documents? After reading this article, you'll know which Canon PIXMA printer is the most suitable for you.
Choose a Canon PIXMA printer
PIXMA printers look alike, but they have different properties. To determine which printer series suits you, ask yourself the following questions:
- Where do you want to use the printer?
- Do you want to print with cartridges or ink bottles?
- Do you want to print photos?
- Do you want a printer that's suitable for the Canon PIXMA Print Plan?
Where do you want to use the printer?
Home
If you occasionally print at home, the PIXMA MG series or a basic PIXMA TS printer is suitable. Canon PIXMA MG and basic TS printers are affordable all-in-one models you can use to print, scan, and copy. You can also print duplex automatically, so you can save paper. Note: the various PIXMA TS models are very different. For example, some models are better for printing photos while others are more suitable for a home office. A good choice for at home would be the Canon PIXMA TS5150 or the Canon PIXMA TS3450, for example.
Home office or small office
Are you looking for a printer for your home office or a small office? Look into a more expensive Canon PIXMA TS model, like the PIXMA TS7450 or a Canon PIXMA TR printer. These models have an automatic document feeder, which allows you to easily scan or copy large work documents. This will save you a lot of time if you scan or copy often. In what way does the printer use ink?
Separate cartridges
With separate cartridges, every color has a separate cartridge. This means you'll only have to buy the colors that are almost empty. PIXMA TR printers and some printers from the TS series have separate cartridges.
Black and 3-in-1 color cartridge
A separate cartridge for black and color is an option too. With the 3-in-1 color cartridge, you can print all colors. That way, you no longer have to buy the colors separately. If one of the colors is empty, you'll have to replace the entire color cartridge. This is the case with PIXMA MG printers and some Canon PIXMA TS models.
Ink bottles
Do you print a lot and want to save on print costs? Choose a Canon PIXMA G printer. These printers have an ink tank that you can refill with affordable ink bottles. With a set of ink bottles, you can print 7700 pages in color and 6000 pages in black and white. This is a lot more beneficial than when you print with cartridges. Another advantage is that you can easily see the ink levels. That way, you'll know when it's time to refill the ink.
Do you want a suitable printer for the Canon PIXMA Print Plan?
Some Canon PIXMA printers are suitable for the Canon PIXMA Print Plan. This is a convenient ink service that allows you to choose a print plan. These print plans start from 30 pages per month. Do you end up using more or less than your plan? You can easily adjust this. When the cartridges are almost empty, you'll automatically receive new ink. That way, you'll never be without ink. You'll pay a monthly fee for the number of pages that you print. This allows you to save up to 50% on cartridges.
Do you want to print photos?
Do you want to be able to print photos in high quality, in addition to text documents? Choose a Canon PIXMA printer with more than 4 cartridges, like the Canon PIXMA TS6350a and the Canon PIXMA TS8350a. The Canon PIXMA TS6350a has an extra photo black cartridge, so you can print photos with a stronger contrast. The Canon PIXMA TS8350a has a light blue cartridge, in addition to the extra photo black. Thanks to this, you can print images both with a stronger contrast and vibrant colors.
