Do you work with a Windows laptop while your colleagues work with a MacBook? No problem. The NAS is ready for use for Windows, Mac / iOS, Linux, Chromebook, and Android. That means you can get started right away. Thanks to the 1GB RAM and Quad-Core RealTek processor, you can process all tasks without delays and multitask with an entire small company on the same NAS at the same time. Just like with all Synology NAS models, you can also use Synology Drive Server with the DS124. This allows you to edit the storage space of the NAS from every connected device. That's useful if you're working from home and still want access to your files.

Transitioning from DS118 to DS124 was a piece of cake

  • The transition from DS118 to DS124 was very easy!!

Placed existing HDD from DS118 in DS124, turned on DS124, confirmed 'Migrate', and after 20 minutes everything worked as usual!!!

  • Poor quality or Monday morning model

The DS124 should replace the existing DS415play. Because it is only used for cameras, no more RAID10 but a single large disk. In addition to new ones to be there early if the DS415 ever breaks down, also pay attention to power consumption. Unfortunately, this device was of poor quality. Within hours, outages began to occur. The breakdown of the fan was the final straw after 2 days. Fortunately, it can be exchanged.

This NAS will give me a lot of pleasure.

  • All my own music at hand
  • Streamer to Chromecast works a little differently than usual

I would like a NAS for family use, this synology is fine. Cast to Chromecast is slightly different with 'DS Audio', this program remembers audio played by Chromecast or Android Auto. Usually it is 1 Source for all cast destinations. Ds audio does this slightly differently, not annoyingly but it requires adjustment.
