Description

The Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM is a light-sensitive lens for Canon SLR cameras with an EF-mount. Thanks to the large maximum aperture of f/1.8, you can take photos with background blur and focus on your object. This allows you to take beautiful portrait photos. The lens has been greatly improved. If you look at its predecessor: 1. The lens is quieter and focuses faster 2. Feels more solid. Basic lens for every photographer! Less plastic, but just as fantastic!

This is clearly an entry-level model. For less than half the price of the 1.4 you get a very good lens. Image quality is without a doubt very good. Build quality is all in all decent. You will retain some noise when focusing, but this is certainly not disturbing when taking photos. Otherwise a very nice lens for portraits, still lifes, general photography,... I use this lens on a 700D and I like it at least as much as the 18-135mm that I now use as a zoom lens for outdoor shots.

The compactness of this lens is wonderful. Focuses well. Very suitable for macro shots. For me - who always worked with a zoom lens - it takes some getting used to that the rotating ring does not zoom but focuses. But that went quickly. I find a problem that the different lens diameter makes a different lens hood necessary. I don't really like what I bought in the offer. The matching one from Canon was not yet available.
