What's the difference between ceramic and induction?
The differences between a ceramic and induction cooktop aren't that great, but there are differences.
Safety: an induction cooktop always has a child safety lock to prevent your children from changing the settings. The cooktop only works when there's a pan on it, and also turns off right away when you remove a pan. A glass ceramic cooktop stays hot for long after cooking, so you can easily get burned. The cooktop also doesn't automatically turn off after cooking.
Energy-efficient: an induction cooktop is energy-efficient because it only heats up the pan. A glass ceramic cooktop needs a lot of energy to heat up the cooking zones. The zones also stay warm for a long time, even after you're done cooking.
Speed: with an induction cooktop, you can start cooking within 20 seconds, while a ceramic cooktop needs about 2 minutes to heat up.
How do you measure the required cutout width?
The niche width is the width of the interior of the space you place the cooktop in.
Measure from the left side to the right side of the niche with a measuring tape. Keep the tape measure tight. You now know the width of your niche. The top of a cooktop is always slightly wider than the niche itself, because the edge rests on the countertop.

- Measure the niche depth
