Who has access to your data?

We will only share your information with other parties if this is actually necessary to provide our services. These are the parties: Delivery partners, suppliers or repairers, product support, payment partners, credit reference agencies, IT service providers and parties that collect our reviews. After all, our delivery partner will need to deliver your order to the right address and it's good if a repairer can come to your home to repair your fridge and not accidentally turn up at the door of one of your neighbours whose fridge is working properly. Parties such as data management platforms, media and advertising agencies and research companies will be involved as soon as we want to give you personal advice or show you targeted ads, for example due to your interest in certain products. In suspicious situations, we are required to disclose customer data to government authorities. The parties to whom we grant access to your data may only use them to provide you with a service on behalf of Coolblue, unless they themselves are responsible for obtaining and protecting your data. Some cookie developers have access to the data that cookies collect on our website. You can read more about this in our cookie statement and in the privacy policy of these parties. We never sell your data to third parties.

Where is your data stored?

We store your data in different databases. We always have strict safeguards in place. It's always best at home: that's why your data is almost always stored within the European Union. In the exceptional case that customer data is passed on to countries outside the European Union, we will ensure that your privacy remains appropriately protected. For some countries, this has been officially established. For some American parties, we work with official model contracts specially designed to ensure your privacy.

How long will your data be stored by us?

We do not store and use your data for longer than necessary. After that, we will delete all the data we have about you. Or we use your data anonymously because we need certain data for internal analyses and reports such as the value of your order. Sounds simple, but how does it work in practice? We comply with certain deadlines after which we will delete your data. These are the deadlines:

  • Recorded telephone calls are usually deleted after 30 days, unless we have a legal obligation to keep a call for longer.
  • We do not store camera images from our stores for more than four weeks unless we see something suspicious that we need to investigate further or if the images need to be stored for longer due to a different legal obligation.
  • We delete inactive customer accounts after seven years. After this period, we will only use your data anonymously for * internal reports.
  • According to the tax office, we must keep our accounting records with your billing, payment and order data for seven years. After that, we only use anonymous data for internal reports. You also need to keep the invoices of the products you buy in a safe place, for example, until your warranty expires.
  • If you have your product repaired or replaced by Coolblue, we will save your message and contact information for seven years. After that, we will only use your data anonymously for internal reports.
  • If you have purchased a mobile phone subscription through Coolblue, we will keep your contract with the telecom provider for a mandatory seven years. After this period, we will use anonymised data for internal reports.
  • If you have subscribed to the newsletter or given your consent to receive personalised messages, we will save this consent for five years. Even if you decide at a certain point that you no longer want to receive the newsletter or personalised messages, we will store your revocation. The emails you receive from us will not be stored for more than 60 days. You therefore don't have to worry about receiving the same email from us more often. After this period, we will only use your data anonymously for internal reports.
  • We store data that we process for fraud prevention for a very long time. Not nice, but necessary.

What rights do you have?

Of course, you maintain control of your data. Would you like to have access to and a copy of your personal data free of charge? Or would you like to amend your data, delete it, restrict its use or change your email preferences? No problem. You can easily do this yourself in your My Coolblue account. Or you can inform us by post or email. In doing so, you can also object to the use of your data for marketing purposes or to the result of the credit check if you rent something with us, or indicate that you believe that your privacy is more important than our interest. In this case, we will review the situation again. Would you like us to pass your data on to another party? That is possible too. Send your request by post or email and we will take care of it. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter quickly. You can do it in your My Coolblue account or by using the link at the bottom of the newsletter. And do you no longer want any cookies? You can also manage this yourself. Read how to do this in our cookie statement. We want to know that you really are the person you say you are. We may therefore request additional information from you to establish your identity. We also do this in the case of unclear requests.
