Withings ScanWatch 2 Black 42mm

I was looking for a 'real' watch with the basic functions of a fitness tracker. After reading many reviews I bought this watch. The watch is very comfortable to wear and is not too big for men with a narrow wrist. The small screen is still easy to read.
Notifications pass by like a ticker tape and if you turn the crown, you can move the notifications forward or backward at your pace.
The battery life can last a very long time, but when using breathing control or oxygen saturation at night, you quickly lose 15 to 20% of battery capacity.
Measuring floors is not always easy. It knows the air pressure difference of 3m and determines whether you have climbed a floor.
The temperature measurement only measures difference from the baseline. According to Withings, it measures your body temperature. During an activity, your temperature will in any case be above the baseline.

The heart rate measurement was unfortunately very disappointing. During fitness exercises, the heart rate remained between 60 and 100 bpm and then constantly missed the short peak. While walking the dog, my heart rate was above 160 about a third of the time and above 120 about a third of the time. This is completely wrong and now I burn more calories during a short walk than during intensive training. . For me this is a deal breaker. I was looking for a watch to replace my Huawei Watch Fit 2. The Huawei is much more accurate in terms of heart rate measurement. It's a shame that Withings has not been able to improve the heart rate measurement with the new sensor.

The whole hybrid concept appealed to me. A long battery life combined with a number of smartwatch functions without too many unnecessary bells and whistles.

The watch looks very classic. It does look more polished in the photos and videos than in real life. The strap, on the other hand, feels very cheap. For a watch costing €350, I expected a lot more.

Setting up is very easy. The app guides you well in systematically setting the different options and explaining the different functions. Well done.

The screen on which all the smartwatch functions are used is small, I knew that in advance. But it is still very small. If you receive a longer message, it will take a while before you read it completely. Not that disturbing, but in the end I thought it was a bit too limited.

Heart rate tracking, oxygen tracking, ECG work well in my opinion. The sleep tracking disappointed me. Several times where I woke up in the middle of the night (to get a drink or to go to the toilet) were not recorded. Well, if that is not registered, how much value should you attach to the rest?

All in all, I am not very satisfied with the watch, especially for that price. So I sent it back.

This looks like a normal watch, but is so much more. You are not distracted by a flashing dial, the time is always visible. Pedometer is accurate. You do not wake up in the morning with 800 steps. If you are in bed before twelve, it is at zero when you wake up. Saturation meter is accurate, I have a "real" one (my wife has COPD) and it shows the same. About the ECG, the cardiologist from Radboudumc can say that it looks good.
The only disadvantage is perhaps that you cannot read notifications from WhatsApp, Telegram, etc. when they have disappeared from view. After three years of ScanWatch it was time for the successor. Watch for a week and a half, battery was at 29% when received, yesterday I got the message that the battery was almost empty. (9%)
