Errors in AEG and Zanussi electric cooktops

An error on your AEG or Zanussi ceramic or induction cooktop is annoying. Fortunately, an error code doesn't necessarily mean your cooktop is broken. You'll read what the error code on your cooktop means and how you can solve it here.

Error E3 and E8

AEG error E3

The cooktop receives too little or too much voltage. That's due to an incorrect electric connection. It often means that the neutral and phase wire aren't connected properly. It may also be the case that it's connected to a wrong phase. Have a certified mechanic check the electric connector.

Error E4

You've let something boil dry, so the auto shut-off and overheating protection have been turned on. Turn off the cooktop and let the cooking zone cool off for a couple of minutes. Turn the cooktop back on. Everything should work again.

Error E7

This is an error with the fan. It indicates insufficient ventilation or a problem with the fan. First, check if the fan isn't blocked. It's often located at the bottom of the cooktop. Check if it isn't blocked by a product in the drawer or the cabinet underneath your cooktop, for example. Isn't this the case? Check if the cooktop has been built in correctly.

Error E + other numbers

An internal error has occurred. Disconnect the cooktop from the power grid by unplugging it. Wait for half an hour before you turn the power back on.

Error L

This means that the keyboard lock of the child safety lock has been turned on. Turn off the child safety lock. How to do this differs per cooktop. Check the manual of your cooktop how to do this.

Error F

AEG error F

When an F appears on the cooktop, there's something wrong with the pan. There are a couple of options. First, check if the pan is placed on the cooking zone properly. Make sure the pan isn't too small for the zone it's placed on. Also check if the pan is suitable for an induction cooktop. Does your cooktop have a flexible cooking zone? If you've turned on the ProCook function, only 1 pan can be placed on this cooking zone.

The cooktop has been turned of automatically. When you haven't adjusted the settings of a cooking zone for some time, the cooktop will turn itself off. After how long this happens, depends on the temperature setting. At the lowest temperature settings, this happens after about 6 hours. At the highest setting, this is after about 1.5 hours. You can find the exact times in the manual in the chapter 'Automatic turn off'.
