How do you choose an airfryer?

You're looking for the best airfryer for you. There are large and small airfryers with different preparation technologies for a crispy result. In addition to fries and snacks, you can also prepare other dishes in an airfryer. You can grill a whole chicken or bake pies and cakes, for example. Read how to choose an airfryer that suits you best here.

Choose an airfryer

Philips airfryer

All airfryers use hot air to prepare fries, snacks, and other preparations. There are different types of airfryers. Ask yourself the following questions when you choose an airfryer.

  • How many servings do you want to prepare with the airfryer?
  • What extra functions do you want?
  • What preparation technology do you want?
  • Do you want automatic programs?

How many servings do you want to prepare?

Philips L airfryer

L airfryers: up to 4 servings

Do you have a small household? An L airfryer is large enough. These models have a capacity of 0.6g to 1kg. You can prepare up to 4 servings of fries in this. These airfryers are also small in size. That's useful, as they take up little space on the counter.

Tefal XL airfryer

XL airfryers: up to 5 servings

An XL airfryer has a capacity of 1 to 1.3kg. You can prepare up to about 5 servings of fries in these airfryers. In addition to fries, you can also easily prepare a whole chicken or a pie in this model.

Ninja airfryer

XXL airfryers: 6 servings or more

Do you have a large household or do you often have people over? An XXL airfryer is the best choice for you. These airfryers have a large 1.4 to 3kg capacity. You can easily prepare 6 servings of fries or more in this.

Which extra functions do you want?

Airfryer with accessories

Do you like to make many different meals with your airfryer? In that case, choose an airfryer with extra accessories. This can be baking pans for pies and muffins. Or a cooking rack to create levels in the pan. That allows you to prepare meat and potatoes at the same time.

Airfryer with 2 drawers

Airfryer with double drawer

Do you want to make 2 meals at the same time? Choose an airfryer with 2 drawers. With an airfryer with a double drawer, you can prepare fish in one drawer and vegetables in the other. Or you can make fries and snacks at the same time. Do you want to prepare a lot of fries? Fill both drawers with fries. If you want to prepare a small amount, you can use only 1 drawer.

Which preparation technology should you choose?

Rapid CombiAir

Rapid Air

Most Philips airfryers use the Rapid Air technology. With this technology, you need little to no oil for your preparation. The hot air blows into the pan from above. The propeller moves the air downward and distributes it evenly over your pan. This way, the dish cooks evenly and your fries come out crispy on all sides.

Rapid CombiAir technology

Rapid CombiAir

The Rapid CombiAir technology goes a step further than the Rapid Air, but has an extra trick. The airfryer adjusts the air speed to your type of dish. For example, do you want to prepare a risotto? Choose the low air speed. You can grill pieces of meat with a high air speed.

Standard preparation technology

An airfryer with a standard preparation technology draws in hot air and heats it. This way, it distributes the air through the entire pan from above. The food cooks thanks to the swirl of the hot air and ensures you get a crispy result. Just like with the other preparation technologies, you can use little to no oil for your dish.

Do you want automatic baking programs?

Cosori airfryer with pre-programmed cooking programs

With some airfryers, you can set the temperature and preparation time yourself. There are also airfryers with automatic programs. The airfryer sets the correct temperature and time for you. That's useful, because you'll always use the correct settings this way.
