How does NFC work

You can check this in the specifications. Swipe from the top of the screen to the bottom and turn on NFC. You can also do this via settings. Here, you can also set for which payment apps you want to use your smartphone as NFC reader. On iPhone models, the chip is always on.
Pay with your smartphone
You may already be able to make contactless payments with your debit card, but you can also do that with your smartphone with NFC. Almost all banks have an app that allow you to pay with your phone. With contactless payments, you don't have to look for your wallet at the checkout. If you hold your smartphone against the card reader, you can pay extremely fast.
How safe is NFC
The NFC chip in your smartphone is exactly the same is the one in your debit card. So it's just as safe to make a contactless payment with your smartphone as it is with your debit card. The app you pay with is secured with a fingerprint or PIN code. Because the range of the chip is just 10cm, it's difficult for criminals to retrieve the signal. If you don't want to take any chances, you can disable the NFC function on your Android smartphone when you don't need it. Simply enable it when you're at the checkout.
