What are the pros and cons of a No Frost fridge?
What's No Frost?
A fridge with No Frost extracts both the air as well as any humidity from the freezer compartment. Because of this, the humidity freezes outside of the freezer compartment. The freezer regularly defrosts the ice and evaporates it. The fan blows the cold, dry air back into the freezer compartment. This way, no ice will build up on the freezer interior or the products inside.
Pro: never defrost again
Pro: fresh products
A fridge without anti-ice buildup will create ice crystals on your frozen groceries. These crystals affect the taste and structure of your frozen fruit. Your ice cream also changes from creamy to icy and watery over time. Thanks to No Frost, you aren't bothered with this. That way, your ice cream will stay tasty.
Pro: comfort
Due to ice buildup, the drawers in the freezer compartment freeze, packages will freeze to the back wall, and you can barely read labels. With No Frost, you're not bothered with this. You can easily pull out the drawers and see what you need. Easy as that.
Con: more expensive
Because of this technique, you page slightly more for a No Frost fridge. On average, you pay about € 127 more. Don't think No Frost is worth the extra money? There are also fridges with Low Frost. You only have to defrost these models once or twice a year.
Con: not as silent
A NoFrost fridge is generally a little more noisy than a model without NoFrost. Fortunately, there are also models with both NoFrost and a low noise level.
