What's a quad bandrouter?
3 frequencies ensure less interference
Quad-band routers use the first 3 frequencies to connect to your devices. The 2.4GHz band has a long range, but is slower. You can connect smart devices to it. The 6GHz band is the the most recent one and is very fast, but has a small range. Only newer devices that use a lot of data work on this band. The 5GHz band has a long range and high speed, but this band is the busiest. All WiFi 6E and WiFi 7 routers use these frequencies.
The fourth frequency provides the greatest range
Regular routers also use the 5GHz frequency band to connect to other mesh stations. This causes a lot of delay between the stations. Quad-band routers use the fourth frequency only for the connection between the mesh stations. This way, your satellite routers are just as fast as your first router.
The best use of WiFi 7
Quad-band routers prevent delays caused by using too many devices. You need the fourth frequency even more when you choose a WiFi 7 router. These routers send even larger data packages thanks to the improved processor. In addition, WiFi 7 routers have more antennas, so you can connect more devices to your router at the same time. This makes the 5GHz network even busier, so you'll benefit even more from a dedicated frequency between your mesh stations.
