Tip 1: wash your clothes inside out
While washing, small balls of lint form on your clothes due to friction. This doesn't look very nice. You can prevent this by washing your favorite sweater or shirt inside out. You don't take the friction away, but you protect the outside of your clothes that's visible. That way, the fabric stays nice for longer.
Tip 2: wash delicate clothes separately
You should wash clothes that are prone to pilling separately. For example, don't wash your wool sweater together with a cardigan with a zipper. This will damage the fabric of your clothes, which often results in pilling. It's better to wash your wool sweater separately or with other delicate items.
Tip 3: follow the laundry tag
You can keep your clothes nice for as long as possible by following the laundry instructions. You'll find them on the laundry tag of your clothing items. If you wash your sweater as you're supposed to, you're less likely to damage the fabric. Not sure what the laundry tag means? Read the following article.
Tip 4: use a wash bag
Do you want to protect delicate clothing items from friction in the drum of the washing machine? You can use a special wash bag. That way, you can wash your favorite wool sweater without damaging it.
Tip 5: dry your clothes on a drying rack
In a dryer, there's a lot of friction between your clothes. Do you want to protect your delicate clothes better? Dry them on a drying rack. If you want to dry your clothes in the drum after all, use a laundry bag for drying too.
