How do you place a ground socket umbrella drying rack?
Install umbrella drying rack with ground socket
You can install an umbrella drying rack with a ground socket in 4 steps:
- Find a suitable place in the garden.
- Dig a hole and fill it with cement.
- Place the ground socket in the cement.
- Let the cement harden for a few days.
What do you need
When you install an umbrella drying rack with ground socket, make sure you have everything you need:
- Cement
- Sand
- Water
- A bucket
- Suitable surface
- Umbrella drying rack
- Ground socket
Step 1: find a suitable place
Find a sunny spot in the garden where the umbrella drying rack with ground socket will have enough room. The required space for the umbrella drying rack is indicated on the packaging. Make sure there's no tree, hedge, fence, or wall in the way. Also make sure that the umbrella drying rack can open up all the way and you have enough room to walk around it.
Step 2: fill a hole with cement
Dig a hole with a diameter of about 30cm and a depth of about 25cm. Fill the hole with slightly moist cement, sand, and a bit of water. On the packaging of the cement, you can check how to make the concrete mixture. If you want to move the umbrella drying rack to a different place later on, you can also dig in a large bucket with cement in it. That makes it easier to dig out the ground socket again.
Step 3: place the ground socket in it
Place the ground socket in the cement vertically and check if it's level. Make sure the ground socket sticks out enough, so you can easily put the cap on it. You use this cap to seal the ground socket when you store the umbrella drying rack inside.
Step 4: let the cement harden
Let the cement harden for a couple of days before you insert the umbrella drying rack in the ground socket. The concrete will be stable enough for you to place the umbrella drying rack in the ground socket after about 48 hours.
