What do you do if your dryer causes a short circuit?
Solve short circuit
If your dryer shorts out, you can check these things:
- Tip 1: connect the dryer to a different group than your washing machine
- Tip 2: check the socket
Tip 1: don't plug the dryer into the same circuit as the washing machine
Is the dryer plugged into the same socket as the washing machine? It's possible that the electric circuit gets overloaded. Every appliance has a minimum power supply. If you plug both appliances into the same electric circuit, the minimum power supply might be more than the power of the electric circuit in the fuse box. In that case, the power goes out or it causes a short circuit. You can solve this by plugging one of the appliances into a different electric circuit.
Tip 2: check the socket
It's also possible that the problem is the socket itself. In case of a short circuit, turn off the dryer and unplug the connector from the socket. It could be that the socket itself is broken and that there's a problem with the wires. In that case, you should call an electrician to come take a look. That way, you'll know for sure that it's taken care of safely. Did you plug in the dryer via an extension cord? That might be the problem. Always plug the appliance directly into an earthed socket to prevent a short circuit.
