How do you place the water filter in your Melitta Avanza?
In this article, we'll explain how to replace the water filter in your Melitta Avanza. If you replace the water filter in time, you prevent limescale in the pipes of your coffee machine. We recommend doing this every 2 months. It takes about 10 minutes to replace the water filter.

You can install the water filter in a few steps. This takes about 10 minutes. We'll go through these steps with you:
- Step 1. Go to the right settings of the coffee machine.
- Step 2. Place the water filter.

- Container of at least 600ml

We recommend replacing the water filter every 2 months to prevent limescale and to keep your coffee machine in the best condition. That way, the Melitta Avanza lasts longer and you retain that optimal coffee flavor.
Step 1: set up the machine
- Move up the date wheel of the new Melitta water filter 2 months.
- Submerge the water filter in a container with water for a couple of minutes.
- Press the 'Service' button for at least 3 seconds.
- Keep pressing the 'Service' until the icon of the water filter appears.
- Press the button with the coffee bean icon until you see 1 coffee bean on the display.
- Press and hold the 'Service' button for 3 seconds to start the filter program.
- Remove the drip tray and empty it in the sink. Put the drip tray back into the coffee machine.
- Take the water tank out of the coffee machine and remove the old water filter from the water tank.
- Empty the water tank.
Step 2: set up the water filter
- Screw the new water filter to the bottom of the water tank.
- Fill the water tank up to the 'Max' mark.
- Place the water tank back into the machine.
- When the steam icon is on, turn the steam dial to the right.
- Turn the steam dial to the left once the machine stops rinsing.
- Remove the coffee grounds container and empty it.
- Place the coffee grounds container in the drip tray and put it back in the coffee machine.
- You've successfully replaced the water filter.
