Get started with connecting your heart rate monitor
To save the data of your heart rate monitor on your smartphone or smartwatch, you have to connect the devices via Bluetooth. Go through the following steps:
- Step 1: choose the device to which you want to connect your heart rate monitor
- Step 2: check the Bluetooth version of your devices
- Step 3: add the heart rate monitor to your Bluetooth device
Step 1: choose the devices to which you want to connect the monitor
You can connect your heart rate monitor to 1 Bluetooth device at a time. That's why you should choose which device you want to connect to your heart rate monitor before you start your workout. If you connect it to your smartphone or smartwatch, you can often use an app for that. You don't connect the sensor directly via the Bluetooth settings of your smartphone or smartwatch.
Step 2: check the Bluetooth version
Most heart rate monitors have Bluetooth Smart. This Bluetooth version is energy-efficient, so your devices don't run out of power as fast. You can connect your heart rate monitors via this Bluetooth version if your smartwatch or smartphone also has Bluetooth Smart, or if your smartphone or tablet run on one of these operating systems:
- iOS 5 and later (iPhone 4S and newer)
- Android 4.3 and later
- Windows Phone 8.1
Step 3: connect your heart rate monitor to your Bluetooth device
If your smartphone, smartwatch, tablet, or computer is compatible with the Bluetooth version of your heart rate monitor, you can connect the devices. You can do so with the accompanying sports app. Add your heart rate monitor to your app as a device. All the measurements or your heart rate monitor will now appear in the app on your smartphone, smartwatch, or tablet.
