How do you connect an Apple iPad to a TV, monitor, or projector?

Connect an Apple iPad to a TV
Connect via Apple TV
Does your television have built-in Apple TV, or do you have a separate Apple TV media player for your television? Stream media from your iPad to your TV.
- Open a video, photo, or series on your iPad.
- Tap the 'Share' icon and then 'AirPlay'. Do you see the AirPlay icon and not the 'Share' icon? Click on that.
- Select your television with Apple TV or the Apple TV itself.
Do you want to display your screen on your TV to view a document? Mirror your iPad screen on your television.

On your iPad screen, swipe down from the top right to open the control panel.

Tap the icon with the 2 rectangles, below the Bluetooth button.

Select your television with the Apple TV. Your iPad screen will now be displayed on your television.
Connect via Google Chromecast
If you use a Google Chromecast with your television, you can also use it to connect your iPad to your television.
- Make sure that the Chromecast is connected to your television.
- Download the Google Home app on your iPad. You can download it in the App Store.
- Open the app and follow the instructions.
- Check if your Chromecast and iPad are connected to the same WiFi network. If this is the case, the Google Home app will recognize your Chromecast.
- Select your Chromecast in the Google Home app. You can now display your screen or show your media on your television.
Connect with a cable
Don't have an Apple or Google media player? You can also connect your iPad to your television with a cable converter. There are a number of thing to keep in mind when choosing a converter:
- Get an HDMI to HDMI cable.
- Buy a USB-C to HDMI or Lightning to HDMI converter.
- Check which connector your iPad has, which is either Lightning or USB-C.
- Check if your television has an HDMI connector.
- Plug the USB-C connector into your iPad, is it has a USB-C connector.
- Plug one end of the HDMI cable into your television.
- Plug the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI connector of your cable converter, Your iPad is now connected to your television.

Connect with a cable
You can connect your iPad to a monitor with a cable. Which cable you need, depends on the connectors on your iPad and monitor. Most monitors have an HDMI connector at least. Depending on the iPad model you have, it either has a USB-C port or Lightning connector. The iPad Pro 2018 and newer models have a USB-C port and older models have a Lightning connector. Choose a cable or cable converter that's suitable for both devices.
Connect Apple iPad to a projector
