How do you clean the steam wand of your Nespresso Creatista?
On this page, we'll explain how to clean the steam wand of your Nespresso Creatista Pro, Plus, and Uno. We recommend you to remove the milk rests from the steam wand after every milk specialty and thoroughly clean the steam wand once per month. That way, the automatic steam wand will last the longest. You can easily follow all the instructions on the display, but we'll explain every step on this page.
Get started with the steam wand
By cleaning the steam wand in time, you prevent caked-on milk rests and defects. We'll explain how to do this with the following steps:

You need:
- Cleaning tool
- A clean, damp cloth
- Empty milk pitcher
How often should you clean the steam wand?
We recommend you to clean the steam wand directly after every milk specialty. You can do this by making wet a cleaning cloth and wiping off the steam wand properly until you no longer see milk rests. In addition, you can also clean the steam wand thoroughly. You can do this once per month. We'll explain how do perform this thorough cleaning step by step. This will take about 10 minutes of your time.
Step 1: prepare the cleaning
- Make sure your Nespresso machine is turned on.
- Press the icon with 3 stripes on the top left.
- Press 'Clean steam wand'.
- Take the water tank out of the machine. That way, you can grab the cleaning tool.
- Unscrew the head of the steam wand.
- Use the cleaning tool to remove milk rests from the holes in the steam wand.
- Use the cleaning tool to unscrew the black part from the head of the steam wand too.
Step 2: clean all separate parts
- Rinse all separate parts under the faucet.
- Dry them properly afterwards, and reassemble all separate parts.
- Screw the head back onto the steam wand.
- Put the cleaning tool back under the water tank.
- Put the water tank back into place.
- Fill the milk pitcher with hot water and put the steam wand in the hot water.
- The steam wand will now rinse with water.
- Remove the milk pitcher and pour the water in the sink. Note: the milk pitcher is very hot when you grab it.
- You've now successfully cleaned the steam wand.
