Help with problems with your Gigaset phone

You own a Gigaset, but you've encountered a problem. Bummer, but perhaps easy to fix. On this page, we'll discuss a number of problems, possible causes, and solutions.

Problem: my Gigaset's display isn't showing anything

Possible causes:

  1. The handset isn't on.
  2. The batteries aren't charged.
  3. The handset's key lock is on.

Solutions:

  1. Turn on the handset.
  2. Charge the batteries or replace them.
  3. Disable the key lock. You can do this by long-pressing the pound key.

Problem: my phone's battery drains really fast

Possible causes:

  1. You've enabled extra functions such as Bluetooth, Eco mode, or monitoring mode.
  2. The batteries are old and worn.
  3. The handset is being charged on a non-Gigaset base station.

Solutions:

  1. Disable the extra functions.
  2. Replace the batteries.
  3. Use the included base base station or a different Gigaset base station to charge your handset.

Problem: my handset doesn't ring

Possible causes:

1, The ringer volume is disabled. 2. Forwarding calls is disabled. 3. The ringtone is suppressed with unknown numbers. 4. The device doesn't ring within a certain period of time.

Solutions:

  1. Turn on the ringer volume.
  2. Turn off the forwarding calls function.
  3. Turn off the ringer volume for unknown numbers.
  4. The timer is set. Switch it off. If appliccable, check the list of blocked numbers.

Problem: the display shows a 'Pair handset' or 'Place handset on base station' message

Possible causes:

  1. The handset isn't registered on the base station yet.
  2. You've exceeded the maximum number of registered handsets.

Solutions:

  1. Register the headset.
  2. Check the manual of your device to find out the maximum number of handsets you can register on the base station.

Problem: caller ID isn't working

Possible causes:

  1. Caller has disabled caller ID.
  2. The provider hasn't activated or doesn't support caller ID.
  3. The phone is connected to a router or base station that doesn't transfer the information correctly.

Solutions:

  1. The caller has to activate caller ID via their provider.
  2. Contact your provider to activate caller ID.
  3. Reset the base station to factory settings. You can do this by unplugging the base station for 1 minute. Then, plug it back in. If it concerns a router, check the settings of the router on your PC or in the manual. ook for terms like 'Caller ID', 'CLIP', 'Show calls" and 'Send phone number'.

Problem: calls aren't being connected when I take my handset out of its charging station for an incoming call.

Possible cause:

  1. Auto-answer is disabled.

Solution:

  1. Enable the auto-answer function.

Problem: the display shows a 'No base station' message

Possible causes:

  1. The handset is out of reach for the base station.
  2. The base station is switched off.
  3. The base station has less range.

Solutions:

  1. Reduce the distance between the handset and the base station.
  2. Check whether all of the connectors are plugged into the base station and/or router properly.
  3. 'Maximum range' is switched off. Switch it on
