Expert review of the Samsung HW-S800B

When I unpack the soundbar, I notice the design right away. With a depth of less than 4cm, it's very thin. This makes the soundbar fairly unique. Because of the design, it's also light. This makes it easy to place and set up. The included subwoofer is slightly heavier. Just like the soundbar, I can connect the subwoofer to within mere seconds with the included cables. The box also includes a remote to control the soundbar with.

Because the soundbar is less than 4cm, deep, it doesn't take up much space on the TV cabinet. In terms of width, it fits under the 55-inch television perfectly. I do think that the soundbar won't look as good if you have a smaller TV, because the soundbar would be wider than your TV in that case.

Once I've connected the soundbar, I put on a movie right away. There's no clear display on the soundbar, so it takes me a while to find the right settings. I do find it useful that the soundbar reads the sound modes aloud. When I select 'Sound Mode', I hear which sound mode is activated. I chose the Surround mode to get spatial audio.

Once I find the right settings, I truly enjoy listening to the sound. I set the subwoofer to the highest setting, turn up the volume, and enable SpaceFit. This technology adjusts the sound of the soundbar to the acoustics of your room, and I definitely notice it. I feel like all the tones sound better. Vocals sound clear and the bass is powerful, so I can hear all the details in a blockbuster. I do miss rear speakers for a full surround sound experience. I notice that the soundbar by itself doesn't allow me to fully immersive myself in sound coming from all sides.

When the movie is over, I test the different modes. There's lots of them, but the night mode stands out to me. This mode makes the bass much less powerful, so your neighbors or kids won't be disturbed by the sound at night. You can watch a movie whenever you want as a result.
