Expert review of the Logitech G305
G305 Gaming Mouse
- Excellent battery life
- No delay in the performance mode
- No unnecessary extras
- Performance mode has to be turned on via the software
Design
What struck me right away was the design and the shape, which I'm already familiar with through the G Pro and the G102. This time around, there are no accents or lighting, so the mouse is quite unembellished. Still, I'm glad the 'g4m3r' designs are behind us. The lack of lighting has a positive impact on the battery life. The only real con for me is that I find the mouse a bit too smooth.
Weight
A lightweight mouse is important for fast movements. With the included battery, the mouse weighs about 89 grams. It's a bit heavier than the wired version, but I don't experience any issues. You can make it even lighter, for example by using a lighter Lithium battery. Because of the battery, the balance of the mouse is in the middle.
Battery life
The G305 has 2 modes via the Logitech G software: Endurance and Performance. Browsing YouTube? The mouse lasts for months in standard mode, but you'll experience mouse lag. If you play Counter Strike, choose Performance mode. This mode should last for 250 hours and in the two weeks that I've tried the mouse, I never had to change the battery. You can set the mode via the Logitech Software.
Sensor
By activating the Performance mode of the Hero sensor, you prevent the mouse lag that I mentioned before. The mouse responds right away and is pixel-precise. Some purists probably won't believe it unless they've tried it, but the G305 feels as responsive and precise as its wired counterparts. I can safely use the G305 for competitive mode in Counter Strike and for the fast gameplay of a game like Quake Champions. With the Hero sensor, Logitech is preparing for a future full of wireless gaming mouses.
Conclusion
Logitech G combines everything you're looking for in a mouse for competitive shooters at a reasonable price. It's lightweight, precise, and has a long battery life. By experimenting with the type of battery, you can make the mouse even lighter. The battery life is excellent, but you can also easily replace the battery. Are you into playing shooters and looking for a mouse for small/medium-sized hands, or do you just prefer claw grip? The G305 is the mouse for you.
