What's DAB+ and what can you use it for?

With DAB+, you listen to digital radio. Because the signal is digital, you won't hear white noise through the sound. This way, you can enjoy your favorite radio stations even more. In this article, we'll explain where you use DAB+, how you receive this signal and what the other advantages are.

What's DAB+?

DAB+ stands for Digital Audio Broadcasting and enables digital radio broadcasts. The signal is free and can be received anywhere in the Netherlands and Belgium, as long as your radio has a DAB+ receiver.

What are the advantages of DAB+?

DAB+ on a radio

Compared to FM, DAB+ has a lot of advantages. The biggest advantage is the sound quality. The signal is digital, so you won't hear white noise, like with the analog FM signal. Another advantage is that radio stations can send more information via this signal. On some DAB+ radios, you can read which song they're playing and you get information about sports matches and the weather.

On which radios do you find DAB+?

Not all radios for at home have a DAB+ receiver. With more and more car radios you can enjoy digital radio. This way, you have access to all your favorite stations in high quality on the go. Note, in a car just having a DAB+ receiver isn't enough. You also need a DAB+ antenna. This isn't always included.
