Which Sonos devices can you connect to your TV?

Do you want to listen to the sound of your TV with a Sonos speaker? Keep in mind that not all speakers are suitable for this, as TVs don't have wireless connection options for Sonos speakers. This means you need a device with an optical or analog input. On this page, you'll find an overview of products with these connectors.

In short

Suitable device Required cable
Beam or Arc HDMI
One, One SL, or Move Wireless via soundbar

Sonos Arc or Sonos Beam

Playbar, Playbase, or Beam

A soundbar improves the sound of your television. Sonos currently sells has 2 soundbars, the Arc and the Beam. The Sonos Arc has Dolby Atmos, which sends the sound to your listening position via the ceiling. The sound is extra spatial and detailed as a result. This soundbar is suitable for larger TVs and large living rooms. The Beam is a good option if you have a smaller room and smaller TV. You can connect the soundbar to the TV via an HDMI ARC cable and can even add rear speakers and a subwoofer.

Sonos One, One SL, or Move

Sonos One

The smaller speakers by Sonos are the Sonos One, One SL, and the Move. You can't connect them directly to your television, but have to connect them via your soundbar. You can do this wirelessly and via the Sonos App. For example, you can use the WiFi speakers as rear speakers with your television. You can create a home cinema setup this way.
