LG DS95TR

We have had an LG TV for years and never seriously considered buying one. But when we got the chance to test it, also an LG, we were surprised by the experience of this device. First of all, it comes in a good box, clearly packaged, good manual included, very complete. The installation was a bit of a puzzle for us, but that was not due to the soundbar but our clumsiness. And then, TV on, download app and play... to be blown off the couch afterwards. What a sound, wow. That was quite different from the sound of the TV alone. Beautiful, good quality too, even with the music DVDs. Although it can come across as a bit tinny if you don't turn the volume button up quite high. But you quickly do that with music, at least we do. We are convinced, such a soundbar is an enrichment. And it is obvious that we chose LG, we are very satisfied with the quality of the products, from washing machine to TV and now this soundbar. So maybe this will convince us after all?

I was able to test the product for a few weeks. The LG S95TR is an excellent soundbar. It offers impressive sound and many functions, especially in combination with an LG TV. Although the price is on the high side, this is outweighed by the quality and ease of use. Installing and calibrating the 9.1. 5 channel system is smooth, even with multiple components. Downsides are the simple LED display and that some functions have to be operated via an app, which can be inconvenient. For those looking for a sound system that matches the performance of a full-fledged home theater, this is an excellent choice. However, for smaller rooms it may be too extensive.

I was allowed to test this soundbar, I own an LG G4 and it works perfectly together. When unpacking the (large) box you can see how long the soundbar is, it just fits within the width of my 55 inch and that looks very neat. The 2 speakers on the back look nice, the subwoofer is a bit on the large side but that is not a problem. When turning on all the speakers they immediately recognized each other and it works immediately in combination with each other and with my TV. You have to set some things via the app on the phone, this can be a disadvantage but for me it worked well. I do think that there are a lot of pre-programmed categories. They should limit this to a maximum of 5, for example, now there are too many and you don't really know what to choose for the best sound. I think the sound is very good, the 2 speakers on the back are an added value compared to my 6 year old soundbar. The sound pops out of the speakers, especially music or a good film with Dolby Atmos shows the power of this set. The subwoofer can sound a bit thin in the wrong category, you really have to find the right setting for this. If you want the best that LG has to offer and you already have an LG TV, I can definitely recommend this soundbar. However, it is quite expensive and there are other alternatives for that.
