Philips STH7060/80

The Philips STH7060/80 quickly refreshes and dewrinkles my clothes. It is easy to use because of the large adjustable head and the included StyleMat. When I open the box, the first thing I see is the StyleMat. The clothes steamer is rolled up in this, together with the safety glove. This way you immediately have a kind of bag to take it with you. So handy. I unpack the clothes steamer and also see the two water reservoirs. You get a small and a large one. Depending on how much you steam, you make your choice. Or you can fill them both and steam for an extra long time. I fill the large reservoir under the tap. The water reservoir clicks onto the steamer with ease. It doesn't take long for the clothes steamer to heat up. I really like this. I have a shirt with quite a few wrinkles, so I grab it. I use the StyleMat as a surface for steaming. First on the table, so that I steam the shirt with extra pressure. The large steam head makes steaming easy, because I can steam the entire shirt with just a few movements. I also notice that a lot of steam comes out of the head, which makes wrinkles disappear quickly. I am pleasantly surprised at how neat the shirt looks after a few minutes of steaming. Thanks to the different steam settings, I can choose how much steam comes out of the device. Then I also try the StyleMat on a clothes hanger, which makes it easy to freshen up a hanging piece of clothing. Handy, hanging steaming with some extra strength. Because the head of the steamer is adjustable, I can easily adjust it. This way I steam just as well vertically as horizontally. I try the supplied glove to give my hands extra protection while using the clothes steamer. The glove is not very comfortable, which also makes it less easy for me to steam. So I prefer to leave the glove out. If I am careful not to place the steamer too close to my hands, I do not feel the hot steam.

My experience with the Philips STH7060/80 handheld steamer was a bit mixed. Although the device has a compact design and promises to quickly remove wrinkles and freshen clothes, it didn't quite live up to my expectations. A positive point is the user-friendliness of the hand steamer. It's easy to operate, with a removable water tank that's easy to fill and provides enough steam for a session. Also notable is the device's fast warm-up time, making it ready for use in just a few moments. The compact size and lightweight design also make it convenient to take with you when traveling. However, where the Philips handheld steamer falls short is in the power of its steam production. While the steam is sufficient for light creases and general freshening of garments, it proved difficult to tackle deeper creases effectively. This was particularly disappointing on fabrics that tend to hold stubborn wrinkles.

The instructions for use are rather unclear, instead of a separate section for each language there are pictures with short text underneath in 20 different languages, which makes you struggle to find the readable part, and the information is also very concise. A typical "Philips problem" I'm afraid. Anyway, even without clear instructions for use, I gave it a try. And honestly, it wasn't disappointing. I put down the corresponding mat, placed the garment on top, and steamed! At first nothing seems to happen because unlike an iron you don't have something to smooth out the wrinkles, but like magic the wrinkles disappear. Not bad! Even on a blouse, which you can very practically steam while hanging, the wrinkles quickly disappeared. The result was not yet perfect, but certainly promising for a first time
