Gardena HandyMower 22/18V P4A Set incl. 2.5Ah Battery + Gardena SmallCut 23/18V P4A Solo (without battery) + Gardena PBA 18V/36 P4A 2.0Ah

I have been looking forward to this lawnmower for some time. Now, in the middle of the autumn I was able to test the lawn mower. I don't have a very large lawn (approx. 60 m2), but there is a large play area in it, which makes mowing difficult. In addition, the quality of my lawn is mediocre at best, with potholes and bumps. My old (electric) lawn mower just about pulled the pollen out of the ground, especially if the grass is not completely dry. You don't have to worry about that with the HandyMower. Assembly is a matter of clicking, just charge the removable battery and you can get started. The operation is very easy, especially because the mower is not heavy and does not sink deep into your grass. The cut quality is good and you can easily maneuver around obstacles. The big advantage is that you can leave the mowed grass; it is immediately food for your lawn and your green box does not fill up so quickly. The quality of mowing is also excellent on relatively wet grass, so you don't have to wait days for it to dry long enough. That would have been a big advantage, especially last summer. All in all, a big improvement over the corded mower I've used for almost 20 years. Whether it will last that long is of course the question, but it won't be up to me.

Assembling the lawnmower is easy and self-explanatory. Charge the battery and go. I am 1.93 myself, so you are quickly outside the working part of the bar. The rod has a parking position and then the mower automatically turns off. Due to my length, the rod is regularly in the park position when I take the mower back, this is very annoying. The mower cuts nicely short and makes the grass small so that it can remain, my grass was fairly long and it worked well. It is a good device but because of my height it works less pleasantly.

Tried to mow for several weeks with the HandyMower 22/18V P4A Set in my garden (lawn +/- 20m2) unfortunately I am less enthusiastic about this Gardena product. For the small garden, this could be and might become a fantastic product. Unfortunately, the security system is too active. Which in practice is very annoying. The system switches itself off whenever the stem and handle are not held at the correct angle. I am 1.86m in height myself and this meant that I had to restart the mower 40-50 times during mowing. My conclusion is that this product is ideal for small persons (between 1.56 m and 1.74 m) or for those with endless patience. ps. Charging the battery is simple (in practice I can mow twice with 1 battery). I also find it a bit messy with all the loosely swinging grass.
