Garmin Zumo XT2 Motor Europe

I bought the Zumo XT2 as an upgrade to the Zumo 590. I chose the XT2 over the slightly older XT because the screen is even brighter than the XT's screen. Route planning is also new on the XT2. This can be done on the device itself or via the new 'Tread' app. The routes are copied online from the Tread app to the XT2 and vice versa. For those who want to plan routes via the PC, there is a website explore.garmin.com. I had to learn the latter through youtube videos. This route planning is still a bit disappointing to me at the moment. Undoubtedly, Garmin will still tinker with this. After some experimentation I use the free version of the Kurviger app, after which I export the track as a gpx file and then import it into the Tread app. The device itself is solidly built, has a lot of internal memory and all map updates are included in the purchase. If desired, you can even place the maps of other parts of the world on your device. This is also included in the lifetime maps. The working time on battery - apart from the motor - is considerable, approximately 4 hours. I wonder how long the battery will last. With the Zumo 590 you could easily purchase and connect a new battery. With the XT2 it is permanently built into the device and can therefore not simply be replaced.

A beautiful update of the XT, also a very good navigation for the motorcycle. Many things have been improved, especially the new SD slot is a good upgrade, the old one was very difficult to operate. Fortunately, you can also use the holder from the previous XT, so that you do not have to reinstall anything on your motorcycle when you upgrade to the XT2. The XT2 now uses USB-C and the screen brightness has also been increased even further. Unfortunately, Garmin's online software (first Basecamp, now Explore/DriveTread?!) is not yet optimal. Fortunately, you can import gpx route files from any route program without any problems. And as always with Coolblue, fast delivery and good service!
