Pros and cons

According to our soundbar expert

  • You can hear sound from every corner of the room because of the 360-degree sound, so you can completely immerse yourself in the movie.
  • You have True Dolby Atmos and you can also hear sound from above you thanks to the 4 upward-facing speakers, so you can experience movies realistically.
  • With a Sony Bravia television, you can use Acoustic Center Sync for more depth in the sound.
  • You can't enjoy deep bass without a separate subwoofer.

Description

You can bring the movie theater into your home with the Sony Bravia Theater Bar 9. The soundbar provides 360-degree sound thanks to the phantom speakers, which means you can hear sound from every corner of the room. This way, you can completely immerse yourself in movies and series. Thanks to Dolby Atmos, you can also hear your sound from above via the 4 upward-facing speakers. They add an extra dimension in height, which allows you to experience movies realistically. If you have a Sony Bravia television, you can use the Acoustic Centre Sync to hear more depth in your movie or series from the soundbar and the television. You can even hear the bird from a distance in the film flying. With Voice Zoom, you can hear voices clearly and distinctly. You can connect your smartphone via Bluetooth, so you can also listen to your online playlists with the soundbar.

Review Sony Theater Bar 9 I was able to test a soundbar in my household for a number of weeks through Review. I am someone who would normally not buy a soundbar, as I have a surround set in my household and am satisfied with it. But this soundbar was a combination test with the Sony Bravia 9 television and that is why I used it. First of all, it is a very high-quality soundbar, it has a good weight, it contains 13 speakers that create a virtual surround effect in the living room and this soundbar does this surprisingly well. If you are going to use the soundbar, a number of steps must be taken to set everything up properly. This is done via an app on the mobile phone and from there the functions are run through one by one, with the result that the room is 'read' by means of a sound test, with which the speaker knows where the listening position is and can therefore deliver the best sound. I am enthusiastic about the shape and that a wide sound image is provided from 1 speaker, my wife would immediately go for it instead of the large front columns and surround speakers that are now there. What I do miss a bit is the deep bass sounds, they are present, but just not enough for me. An expansion is possible with a separate subwoofer and 2 surround speakers, which are connected wirelessly. I am pleasantly surprised for a single speaker and if I have to make a choice in the future when there is less space available in the living room, this is a good alternative to a surround set.

Good sound and design

  • Sound
  • In combination with 75 inch TV
  • Too big without TV

Got to test this soundbar together with the Sony Bravia 9 75 inch television. The combination with both is recommended as the soundbar is quite large and will probably be too large for a smaller size television. The sound of the soundbar is good. The sound is clear and there are various settings to adjust the sound. The included remote control also has a position for speech so that it can become clearer. In short, this combination between the television and this soundbar is a more than good choice in terms of quality and, as far as the soundbar is concerned, also one with quality in sound and design because despite the dimensions, the design is very sleek.
