Because of the crop factor of this sensor, the image angle is similar to the one of a 50mm lens on a full-frame camera. That's why the lens is suitable for portrait and reportage photography. With the maximum aperture of f/1.4, you can create a depth of field effect with a blurry background. Thanks to this, the subject becomes free of the background. You can also photograph in low-light situations, because of the large opening of this aperture. The lens has a weather proof design, so you can also use the lens during bad weather. Top glass, but you know that from Fujifilm.

I was looking for a reliable replacement for my XF 35 mm f/1.4. It was important to me that the character of the old lens is preserved, but that it focuses quickly and accurately. The lens is not as compact as the old lens, but it still remains a nice size. I found that in the XF 33 mm f/1.4. Great glass!

With a bit of luck getting a copy through Coolblue. After two weeks of using this review! The XF 33mm f/1.4 R LM WR is (slightly) thicker, longer and heavier than its older brother, the 35mm f/1.4. You can feel it, but it's more than worth it, with an optical design consisting of 15 elements in 10 groups. The (all-metal) version exudes solidity and quality. The aperture ring that clicks in third stops works smoothly. In practice, the lens feels very familiar. A must-buy when it's back in stock!
