According to our Fully automatic espresso machine expert
With the Philips 3200 EP3221/40, you can make an Americano, lungo, regular coffee, or espresso in no time. This coffee machine is suitable for you if you like various black coffees. You can select your choice via the display with buttons. This also allows you to adjust the intensity and amount per cup of coffee. With the ground coffee compartment, you can easily switch between coffee beans and preground coffee. In addition, you can froth milk for a cappuccino or latte macchiato yourself with the steam wand. You can pour the milk into your cup yourself. In addition to coffees, the coffee machine also provides hot water for a cup of tea. And if you replace the AquaClean water filter in time, you only have to descale the coffee machine once every 1.5 years. Use the descaling program for this.

After 10 years, my previous Philips saeco gave up and I have used it intensively with great pleasure as a refined coffee lover. This new device works with the same brew group and has proven to be very reliable. The start-up time is quite fast, it is warm within a minute. My old device had a drip tray that couldn't fit much in and if you weren't paying attention, you quickly messed with removing/emptying the tray. With this new device, the drip tray is a bit deeper and works much better. I read that people complain about a lot of noise while making a delicious fresh cup of coffee. Yes, of course it makes a bit of noise, but so does any device that grinds fresh beans. If you don't want that, buy a Senseo. It really doesn't make an excessively loud noise, but you can hear beans finely grinded. Then he pumps the water through the coffee with pressure and then also makes some noise, but so does a Senseo. So don't be fooled if you read something about that, it belongs to a device like this. Furthermore, the device really looks super sleek. The wide choice display with different types of coffee is great. You can easily adjust the strength by adjusting the amount of beans. You can also adjust the amount of water per cup with the selection menu. The temperature is also easy to adjust and set warmer/hotter. The device is also easy to maintain. Once a week you rinse the brew group in warm water and you are ready for another week. No cleaning products/pills are needed for this machine. There is also a lime filter in the water reservoir, which prevents limescale in the pipes. After about 5000 cups of coffee, you buy a new filter. This is not necessary, you can also remove the filter and continue without the filter. You only have to descale the machine every now and then. So that's a choice you make. Milk frother also works fine, you have to learn how to use it. But it's the same as my old milk frother. It is ultimately about the right temperature of the milk. If you steam for too long, the milk will be too hot and you will no longer get a firm foam head. Exercise and technique and you can find several videos on YouTube how to use it. Matter of practice. The coffee also tastes delicious! Do not buy a bean that is too greasy, it is best if the beans are as dry as possible. (so no greasy outer layer)

I have had this device for a few months now and I am very satisfied. I mainly drink black coffee varieties, so I wanted a machine that could do this well. In addition, my wife only drinks decaf cappuccino, so the machine should be able to do that too. After much consideration and research, I came up with this device (also because the consumer association was very positive in their test). I first considered a Jura, but it is twice as expensive in price and I often hear that the coffee that comes from a Jura is not that hot. That's how I ended up with the Philips. The machine can brew 4 different types of coffee (espresso, lungo, coffee and americano). You can taste the difference between the different types very well (for example, the lungo tastes really different than the americano). You can set different things for each cup of coffee (amount of coffee, amount of water and temperature). The device remembers the preference from the previous brewing cycle. The coffee that comes out is very tasty and hot. My wife only drinks decaf cappuccino. The device can also make filter coffee. You put a scoop of filter coffee (in our case decaf) in the compartment for filter coffee, press a button for the filter coffee and the machine brews it just as easily as bean coffee. The milk is easy to froth with the steam nozzle. The foam becomes nice and full and firm. I think the advantage of a separate steam nozzle is that no milk remains in the device. You rinse the pipe under the tap or at the end of the day in the dishwasher and you're done. Are there any drawbacks, yes, but I don't think they are that big. Brewing two cups of coffee at the same time takes quite a while. The device effectively brews 1 cup of coffee twice in a row. It also takes quite a while to brew the americano (first an espresso and then add hot water). In addition, the device makes natural noise when grinding and cleaning (every half hour the device cleans itself and then turns itself off). I don't find it that disturbing, but for other people this can be a problem. Finally; the device is easy to clean. You have to clean the drip tray and the coffee collector every day (5 minutes work). The device also indicates with a light if this is necessary in the meantime. Every week you have to rinse the brew group under the tap (10 minutes of work). Every month you have to put a cleaning tablet for coffee oil in the device and clean the device (25 minutes of work, including 15 minutes of waiting). Finally, you should lubricate the brew group once every few months. This took some figuring out at first (the manual isn't very clear on this point), but both coolblue and philips have clear instructions on their websites. In short, I am very satisfied and I would recommend this device to anyone.

This device is user-friendly and easy to operate. You can make delicious coffee varieties in no time at all, from espresso to cappuccino. The coffee is very good at temperature, I think this is also due to the power of 1800W. I definitely recommend the product.
