According to our field recorder expert
The Atomos Ninja V is a recording monitor used to make uncompressed 4K recordings at 60 frames per second. You mount the screen on your SLR or mirrorless camera. The monitor lets you make optimal use of your camera's sensor. You can also use it as a recording monitor when streaming your video games. The large 10-stop dynamic range ensures that the image is clear. You can view the footage on the 5-inch screen afterwards. Thanks to the screen's backlight, you can watch the footage in daylight as well. Your recordings are stored on an SSD in RAW format with an HDMI 2.0 cable. This gives you access to high-quality footage, making it easier to edit. You can easily bring the screen with you in your bag, thanks to the compact size.

Lots of options for filmmakers and vloggers. Maybe not very cheap, but you do get a lot for your money, despite the lack of necessary accessories such as an SSD, the necessary HDMI cables and a battery if you want to use it on the go.

I love it, but you need to keep in mind you still need a ton of extras before you can even get started. (Yes, get started, I'm not talking about fancy sunshades or screenprotectors). And it's not just a cheap cable, it's a few hundred bucks worth of accessories. Things I personally bought extra to combine it with my A7III: - Sony 1TB SSD - HDMI to HDMI micro - 2x NP-F970 batteries - Smallrig coldshoe mount
