When you buy a steering wheel like the G29, you expect as much realism as possible from your racing games.
This makes this H-shifter an indispensable accessory.
As known from previous logitech models, the shifter is of good quality. It's really made to be "abused" for hours on end without even breaking anything!
The only downside in my opinion is still that there is little feedback in the shifter. It just shifts way too lightly.
A bigger annoyance has nothing to do with the shifter itself, but with Logitech's way of working these days.
With the G25 and G27 you just got the shifter in your package, here you have to buy it separately, making the total package a lot more expensive. In addition, the shifter is not even improved compared to its predecessors. On the contrary. The G25 had a button with which you could switch it to a sequential shifter, this has been lost with the G27, but it had some extra buttons that were useful in-game. So the bottom line is that Logitech asks more and more while you get less in return.
