I was hesitating between this projector and a benQ w2700, so I ordered them both, I ended up returning the benQ.
The BenQ is of course a lot more expensive. the advantages of this are that the image is even sharper and has better contrast (TV quality). it is also slightly smaller and lighter.
than the Epson, it is super flexible in terms of placement. it can move the image vertically as well as horizontally, this finally made me decide to go for this beamer (I can't hang it).
the image is good and if you go for this beamer you really have nothing to complain about. the image is slightly less sharp than the benQ and especially the contrast is slightly less (black is dark gray here).
the epson makes less noise, still gives a perfect image during the day due to its high brightness and has a larger zoom range.
all in all I would say that the BenQ is a better option for a totally darkened room and you have a little more budget.
the Epson is a better choice if, for example, you want to place the beamer on a cupboard and you also use it during the day.
you really can't go wrong with either projector, you just have to ask yourself whether you're going for the ultimate image quality or for more flexibility and better daytime performance.
