What's Sonos Radio and what can you use it for?

In April 2020, Sonos announced Sonos Radio, their own online streaming service. In this article, we'll explain what this service is, and what you can use it for.

What is Sonos Radio?

Sonos Radio

Sonos Radio is a free service from Sonos. The brand has combined 60,000 different radio stations from around the world in 1 service. They also divided the different stations in different genres, so you can find the right channel for every mood. Sonos used other services for this, like TuneIn, iHeartRadio, and Napster. You do listen to ads in between.

Sonos Sound System is the brand's own radio station where you can discover new music. This station is broadcasted every Wednesday from a Sonos store in New York, and it's ad free. You can also listen to guest artists, and to the favorite songs and music of some famous musicians via Artist Stations.

How do I use Sonos Radio?

To use the streaming service, you need the newest version of the app (11.1 or higher). If you start your Sonos Radio for the first time, you have to accept the terms and conditions. Is everything set up? Click on the 'Browse' button in iOS or Android, and then on 'Sonos Radio'. With macOS and Windows, you can click on 'Select a Music Source', and then on 'Sonos Radio'. Now you can enjoy a specific genre, local radio, or radio channels from around the world.
