Tip 1: update your personal information

To measure things like the number of burned calories, the Apple Watch need some information. This information includes your gender, age, length, and weight. If you want to keep these measurements accurate, it's important to keep your information up to date. You can edit your information in the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.

  1. Go to My Watch in the app and tap Health.
  2. Go to Health Profile and tap Edit.
  3. Update the information.

If you wear your Apple Watch correctly, the measurements become more accurate.

Do you want to accurately track how much you move in a day? Make sure you turn on Wrist Detection on your Apple Watch. Wrist Detection ensures that the Apple Watch sends you reminder to stand. It also tracks your progress and performs heart rate measurements in the background. You can turn on Wrist Detection via the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.

  1. Go to My Watch in the app and tap Passcode.
  2. Here, you can turn on Wrist Detection.

Tip 4: choose the right workout

This tip might be obvious, but it's important. Always choose the workout in the Workout app that most accurately matches your training. Are you going to run a marathon on the treadmill in the gym? Select the Indoor Run workout, not the Outdoor Run workout. If you're going to swim laps in the pool, select Pool, not Open Water. If you're doing a workout that's not listed in the options, choose Other. If you want to keep measuring your heart rate during your workout, you have to turn off Low Power Mode.
