How do you descale your Nespresso Gran Lattissima?
Get started with your Nespresso Gran Lattissima
It takes about 20 minutes to descale. We'll go through these steps:

You need:
- 1L container
- De'Longhi EcoDecalk descaler
How often do you clean the Nespresso Gran Lattissima?
Descale your Nespresso about 2 times per year. As soon as you need to descale your Nespresso, it'll notify you. Use a Nespresso or De'Longhi descaler. When you descale your machine, the coffee stays at its best, and the machine lasts longer than if you don't descale it.
Step 1: prepare the descaling
- On top of the machine, you'll get a notification when you need to descale it.
- Lift the lever up and down, so the last-used capsule fall in the container.
- Empty the container and the drip tray, and place them back in the Nespresso.
- Fill the water tank with 100ml descaler and fill the tank with water up to the line for descaling.
- Place the water tank in the machine.
Step 2: connect the descaling pipe
- Take the descaling pipe from the back of the machine.
- Place the pipe in the connector of the milk system.
- The orange light on top of the machine light up in orange during the descaling process.
- The button for a flat white lights up.
- Place a container of at least 1L under the coffee outlet and hot water outlet.
Step 3: start descaling
- Press the button for a flat white.
- The Nespresso will dispense hot water.
- As soon as the machine is done with descaling, the flat white button lights up.
- Remove the container for capsules and the drip tray, and the container for the water and empty them.
- Also empty the drip tray.
- Remove the water tank from the machine and rinse it. Afterwards, fill the water tank up to the 'max' line.
- Place the water tank back into the machine.
Step 4: rinse the machine
- Press the button for a flat white to start the rinse.
- The rinsing stops as soon as the water tank is empty.
- The machine turns off automatically.
- Remove the descaling pipe from the machine and place is into the back of the Nespresso.
- Empty the container for capsules, the container for the water, and the drip tray, and place them back.
- Fill the water tank with water up to 'max'.
- Your Nespresso Gran Lattissima is now ready for use.
