Apple iPad (2020): 10.2-inch Retina display and thick bezels
The iPad (2020) has a 10.2-inch Retina display. This is an exact copy of its predecessor, the iPad (2019). The screen is large enough for multitasking. In addition, it's bright, so it's easy to read even with much ambient light. The screen is smaller and less advanced than the screen of the iPad Air (2020). For example, this screen doesn't have a wide (P3) color representation, no True Tone, and no anti-glare coating. It just has a grease-repellent coating to prevent fingerprints.
Apple iPad Air (2020): 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display and thin bezels
The 10.9-inch screen is just as bright as the iPad (2020). The screen of the iPad Air (2020) is larger and has more technologies. It has a wider color representation (P3) and True Tone. This makes colors look richer and more natural. The display is completely laminated. This means that the screen has both a grease-repelling coating and an anti-glare coating. That way, you won't be bothered by your own reflection as much.
The processor

The iPad (2020) has the A12 Bionic chip. This is the same processor as in the iPhone Xs. The A12 chip is fast enough for multitasking. You can easily open two different apps next to each other on the screen and use them simultaneously. Apps open fast, but not as fast as on the iPad Air (2020). You mainly notice this with more demanding apps or 3D games. That's why the iPad (2020) is less suitable for photo and video editing.
Apple iPad Air (2020): A14 Bionic chip
The iPad Air (2020) has the powerful A14 Bionic chip. This is the same chip as in all the iPhone 12 models. You can multitask without hiccups with this chip. Both demanding and less demanding apps open very fast and run effortlessly. You can switch between apps more quickly than with the iPad (2020). That's because of the extra 1GB RAM. This makes the iPad Air (2020) also suitable for creative people who like to work with Adobe apps, for example.

Apple iPad (2020): Lightning connector, Apple Pencil, and Smart Keyboard
Apple iPad has the well-known Lightning connector. You can connect a charging cable or a Lightning to SD card reader, for example. With the magnetic Smart Connector at the side of the iPad (2020), you can easily connect Smart Keyboard. The first generation of the Apple Pencil works on this tablet. The styles glides smoothly across the screen, but doesn't respond as fast as the Apple Pencil 2. In addition, the Apple Pencil 1 isn't touch-sensitive.

iPad Air (2020) has a USB-C connector. So you can connect an external screen or USB-C dock without a connection piece. Apple Pencil 2 works with this tablet. This stylus responds faster to movement than the Apple Pencil 1. It's also touch-sensitive. Thanks to this, you can quickly switch between tools in Photoshop, for example.
