How do you choose the right ink for your printer?

Do you have a printer and aren't you sure what ink or toner cartridge to use? Read which ink or toner cartridge is the best fit for your use and your printer here. We'll explain which types of ink and toner cartridge there are. In addition, it's good to know what printer type you own. That way, you can decide whether you need ink cartridges, toner cartridges, or ink bottles.

Choose the right ink

The printer assortment is large, which is why there are so many different ink cartridges, toner cartridges, and ink bottles available. It's important to know which ink or toner cartridge you need for your printer. You can find out by answering these questions:

  • Which printer type do you own?
  • Do you want standard or XL cartridges?

Which printer do you have?

Brother printer

If you need new ink, it's important to know the code of your cartridge or toner cartridge. You can find this code on the cartridge or toner cartridge in the printer. Did you already throw it out? You can also find this information in the manual. Did you throw that out too? Find the serial number of your printer, which is often on the printer or on a sticker on the back or bottom of the printer.

Do you want standard or XL cartridges?

Size cartridges

There are 2 types of cartridges and toner cartridges, either standard or XL ones. With toner cartridges, this is called high capacity. If you don't print often, a standard cartridge is the better option. There's a lower risk of the cartridges becoming dry before the ink runs out this way. But the XL version is cheaper in the long run. Compared to the standard size, you always get more milliliters of ink or toner for a lower price. XL doesn't mean that the ink or toner cartridges are larger and might not fit in the printer. It only refers to the larger amount of ink in the cartridge.
