What can you do with a Google Nest Mini?
Tip 1: fully complete the installation
You can set up the Google Home Mini with the Google Home app on your smartphone. During the setup, you'll be asked various questions that may give you some extra options. For example, the app will ask for your address. Based on your address, the Google Home Mini can indicate the nearest supermarket, doctor's office, or the nearest gas station. Having trouble setting it up? Reset your Google Nest Mini. To do this, turn off the microphone of the Mini and tap the orange lights for 15 seconds. Then, try to set it up again.
Tip 2: create a multi-room setup
You can link multiple Google Nest speakers to the same room. Do this before you add them to the same room in the Home ap. This way, you can play music on all speakers in the room with 1 command. In addition, your Mini speakers can detect motion. So they know which room you're in. Via the settings in the Home app, you can adjust the settings so the music follows you. If you get enough Google Home Mini speakers, you'll be able to listen to the same music everywhere in the house.
Tip 3: mount the Nest Mini to your wall
Mount the Nest Mini to the wall with a wall mount. This way, the small speaker is even less in the way. You can also place the Mini in the hallway or near the stairs so you can control your devices from there, for example.
Tip 4: stream to your television
The Google Home Mini has the option to stream Netflix to your television. You need a Google Chromecast for this. Simply connect the Mini and the Chromecast to your Home app. You can now turn on your television with your Nest Mini Hub. Think of a name for your Chromecast, such as 'Television in the living room'. This way, the Mini knows which television you're referring to when you use a voice command.
Tip 5: connect the Nest Mini to other devices
With the Google Mini, you can control your music or your agenda with your voice. You can also control your lighting and thermostat with commands. To do so, you'll need to have smart devices in your home. The Philips Hue lights and the Nest thermostat are compatible with Google Home.
Tip 6: have guests control your Google Home
Want to let your nieces control the music? Use the guest function when you have visitors. Use the Google Home app to switch on guest mode. You'll then receive a PIN code. Your guest can now use all Google Home functions, including opening Spotify and using the streaming icon. Enter the PIN to give the guest access to your Google Home.
