Get started with an epilator

You've bought an epilator because you probably want to enjoy a smooth skin for as long as possible. Removing hair with an epilator can be painful. In this article, we'll give you some tips so you can remove hair as comfortably as possible and enjoy your epilady as long as possible.

Get started with your epilator

Hair removal with epilator

You want to use your new epilator to remove hairs on your legs, arms, armpits, or face. But you want to do it in a comfortable way. We'll give you 5 useful tips to remove hair smoothly.

  • Tip 1. Scrub your skin before the hair removal.
  • Tip 2. Choose the right attachment.
  • Tip 3. Remove hair in the shower or bath tub.
  • Tip 4. Switch between shaving, trimming, and epilating.
  • Tip 5. Maintain your epilator.

Tip 1: scrub your skin before hair removal

Scrub brush face and body

Want to reduce the risk of ingrown hairs and skin irritation after the hair removal? Give your skin a quick scrub before you start. By scrubbing it, you remove dead skin cells. It prevents skin irritation, but also ensures your skin absorbs the lotion you put on when you're done. Use a scrub brush or glove for your body. For your face, you should use a facial scrub brush. This is softer than a scrub brush for your body. Some epilators include a scrub brush or glove.

Tip 2: choose the right attachment

Epilator attachments

With an attachment, you adjust the epilator to the body part you want to epilate. Want to accurately remove facial hair or comfortably epilate your bikini line? Use a precision attachment. If you've just started epilating and want to make it as comfortable as possible, use the beginner's or skin contact attachment. These attachments carefully tighten your skin and make sure you always touch the skin. That way, it doesn't feel like it's pulling.

Tip 3: epilate in the shower or bath tub

Waterproof epiplator

The most comfortable way to epilate is in the shower or bath tub. Make sure to check whether your epilator is waterproof or not. The warm water relaxes your skin and opens your pores. This allows you to remove hairs comfortably and reduces the risk of skin irritation. Another advantage is that you rinse your hairs away at the same time. Is your skin still very sensitive? If so, we recommend a cooling compress to numb your skin a little.

Tip 4: switch between shaving, trimming, and epilating

Armpit hair removal

With an epilady, you can remove unwanted hairs from the roots. Prefer not to epilate sensitive parts, such as your armpits or bikini line? Use a shaving or trim attachment. Some epilators include these attachments by default. With a shaving attachment, you get a smooth result. And with the trim attachment, you merely trim the hairs a little.

Tip 5: maintain your epilator

Epilator head

Is your epilator waterproof? Simply rinse it under the faucet when you're done. That way, you easily remove hairs from the epilator and clean the blades. It ensures that your epilator stays efficient. Isn't your epilator waterproof? Carefully remove the hairs with a maintenance brush or old toothbrush. Don't apply too much pressure, or you'll damage the epilady head.
