Our audio expert has tested the sound of our most popular models with a special measurement microphone. On the product page, you can find the header 'Sound according to the expert' in the specifications. That way, you can easily see which earbuds or headphones produce a rich bass and which ones do or don't emphasize the mid tones. If the model has an equalizer, it'll be listed here. With an equalizer, you can adjust the sound to your liking.
Decide what kind of sound you like in advance
Before you start comparing the sound of models, you have to consider what kind of sound you like. Look at the type of music you listen to and decide what kind of sound the earbuds or headphones need to have in order to make the most of your favorite genre. Do you want the emphasis on the bass? Or do you want balanced lows and mids, so the music sounds the way the artist wants it to sound.
What kind of bass do you like?
When it comes to bass, we divide it into 3 categories. It can be not very present, slightly present, or very present. When the bass isn't very present, the bass sounds the way the artist intended it. With a slightly present bass, the low tones are more clearly audible. And with a very present bass, you can hear extra powerful low tones.
Consider what you expect from the mids
Just like the bass, we divide the mid tones into 3 categories. These are not accentuated, balanced, and extra accentuated. If the mid tones aren't accentuated, the vocals and instruments aren't emphasized. Are the mid tones balanced? In that case, they sound exactly like the artist intended them in the studio. With extra accentuated mid tones, the vocals and instruments are extra emphasized.
Treble is difficult to measure
It's more difficult to measure the treble than the bass and mids. Most manufacturers choose to accentuate certain parts of the treble and reduce other parts. They do this to make your favorite music sound as detailed as possible, but that makes it impossible for us to measure them accurately.
